Interview with Jelena Cohert


Question: What's your name?


Jelena: Jelena Cohert.


Question: Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it?


Jelena: No, no nickname for me.


Question: How old are you, where were you born?


Jelena: I am 42 years old. I was born in Miami but my mother and father are from Puerto Rico.


Question: Do you have any siblings?


Jelena: Yes, I have a brother and a sister.


Question: What are they like? Do you have a good relationship with them?


Jelena: No, I do not have a good relationship with them. That's all I'll say on that.


Question: What do you do for a living?


Jelena: I am a Senior Agent with the FBI.


Question: How long have you been an FBI agent? Do you enjoy your job?


Jelena: Yes, I enjoy my job a lot. I have been with the FBI for almost 21 years. I am glad I changed careers.


Question: You said you changed careers. What did you do and why did you change?


Jelena: I used to be a social worker. Personal events happened in my life leading me to choose a different career.


Question: What personal events?


Jelena: The personal kind.


Question: Okay, moving on. Do you have any hobbies?


Jelena: I love reading and jogging. I like to go dancing even though I don't have much time for that.


Question: Do you have a current case you are working on?


Jelena: Yes. I am in the middle of a case.


Question: What can you tell us about it?


Jelena: Not much. I am trying to catch a criminal. That's all you get.


Question: What's your greatest fear?


Jelena: Hmm. Well I am afraid of dogs and bugs that fly. I'm also scared of lions, tigers and bears.


Question: What's your favorite food?


Jelena: Empanadillas just like mi Abuela used to make. She taught me how, and I'm pretty good. No one makes them like her though.


Question: Has your grandmother passed?


Jelena: Yes, when I was in high school.


Question: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?


Jelena: A ballerina. I danced when I was little through high school. I almost went to school for dancing but my father told me to pick a 'promising career'. So I chose social work.
