Author's Toolbox!?

Hey, Hey!

How's everyone doing this beautiful day in May! (See what I did there 😘).

Where are all my authors and author to be's at!?!?!? Comment below where you are in your writing process. I have 5 books (self) published and am in the middle of 1 WIP. What do you have in your author's toolbox? Today we are going to open mine up and look inside. Comment below if we share tools or if you have some I didn't mention!.

Tool #1 - Team

My team consists of my editor #shelleylopez and my cover designer #dreammanson. I also have my platforms. Those where I publish on, my social media and my website. I publish on B & N, Amazon, Kobo, Bookfunnel and my official website; my website is through wix. I have a ticktok.com/melaninbibliophile_write . Instagram.com/swarrenauthor. Facebook.com/sheyannewarren,author and Twitter.com/WarrenSheyanne. Are you following me? Uh, why not. Come join my squad and get to know me while I get to know you!!

Took #2 - computer

I have a #chromebook by HP. that is my personal computer. My work (teaching) computer is a HP also but a Microsoft. I try really hard to keep work and author content on separate computers. 🤷‍♀️ The good intent is what matters right?! The one aspect I love, and have come to need with both computers are the touch screen aspects that are both of my computers. At my desk I also have a laptop extender (Amazon ) and my wireless mouse and keyboard (Amazon ).

Tool #3 - Planner

I use #trivingscribesplanner byt Brit Poe. It really breaks down all my goals, quarterly and annually. Keeps my schedule and progress written down and holds me accountable. I have a For Melanated Boss Babes: A Life planner for women of color planner that I use for everything: author content, teaching meetings and to - do lists (not planning) and appointments and to-do lists outside of any type of work. I got that from Amazon as well.

Tool #4 - Books/Notebook

I take it back old-school and I have a marble 5 subject notebook where I keep important details from my stories. Whether it be descriptions or other details. I need them written down so that I don't mix them up, or go creating new details! I have a total of 10 recourses books to help my writing. My top 3 are: The Dictionary of Mythology: An a-z of themes, legends and heroes, by J.A Coleman. Descriptions: How to engage readers and keep stories moving by creating vivid believable depictions of people's places and actions by Monica Woods. Finally, The Criminal Mind: A writers Guide to Forensic Psychology, by Katherine Ramsland, Ph.D.

Welp, that's a look behind my curtain. Comment below a look behind yours!
